YOUNG DIRECTORS

Young Directors is a 10 week introduction to directing live performance course for young people. Sessions take place at Northern Stage on Mondays during term time. They will run from 5-7pm, starting on 9th September until 18th November.

The sessions consist of a series of interactive workshops, masterclasses with industry professionals, and opportunities to see shows at Northern Stage. You do not need any previous experience in directing to apply, just a desire to discover more about different ways to make theatre.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Take part in introductory workshops about the essentials of directing live performance
  • Meet professional directors working in the North-East learning about their approaches to making work for the stage
  • Attend live performances with an opportunity to discuss what you’ve seen.
  • Meet and collaborate with other Young Directors
  • Gain an insight into the process of creating a performance, in a professional setting
  • Explore your own artistic voice, try new things and gain and practice transferable skills.
