Overview
Join us for the launch of our new talent development programme: Scale Up. Drawing on three years of close consultation with the freelance sector in our region, Scale Up will give artists access to the skills, networks and experience they need to achieve their artistic and professional ambitions. It will support your progression whether you’re making the jump from micro to small-scale, small-scale to mid-scale, or beyond.
We’re celebrating the launch of Scale Up with a FREE day of talks and provocations from inspiring leaders across the theatre industry. Speakers include:
Daniel Evans – Co-Artistic Director, Royal Shakespeare Company
Kwame Kwei-Armah – Artistic Director, Young Vic
Matilda Feyiṣayọ Ibini – freelance writer
Matthew Xia - Artistic Director, Actor’s Touring Company
Michèle Taylor MBE – Director for Change, Ramps on the Moon
Vicki Mortimer – Theatre Designer, Trustee of National Theatre
Reserve your spot today to be among the first to hear from our Artistic Director, Natalie Ibu about the transformational opportunities that Scale Up has to offer. The event will begin in Stage 1 before proceeding to Northern Stage’s café-bar to continue the conversation.
Tickets are free but you must book a place.

Our venue is child friendly, so you and your family are very welcome. Please bear in mind that the content and structure of the event is not designed for a young audience, so bring snacks/entertainment! If you’re happy to sit with your children in the auditorium, we’d love for them to be there, just let us know by booking them a ticket too. We’d also recommend booking an aisle seat, so you can come and go as needed.
Of course – we’d love to have you there. This will be a fantastic event for those who are thinking of careers in the theatre industry. Please just make sure to check with your teacher/course leader first!
