What's On: September 2022

September marks the start of our This Is Now: Autumn 2022 season and we can’t wait! Check out the range of shows we have on offer this month below. We’ve got shows to make you think, world-renowned dance, plus a great night out with Ursula the sea witch. We hope to see you there.

This energetic company of performers with lived experience of forced migration explore the seam of kindness and care that lies within their experience of leaving their homelands to seek asylum. This play explores the hidden moments of hospitality that change the course of a journey, and how to repay them.

Join everyone’s favourite Disney Diva, Ursula, as she gives her take on what really happened all those years ago under the sea. With an original hot pop soundtrack and trademark filthy humour, it’s time to take the plunge and dive in to this year’s hottest night out.

A funny, heart-warming, gin-soaked exploration of modern-day motherhood, full of original live music plus tips on how to fail miserably at meeting everybody’s expectations. For anyone who’s ever wondered about their relationship with their Mum or their kids, or is looking for permission to say ‘I am doing my best’, Mother’s Ruin is a heart-warming, entertaining night out. With live music, fancy high heels and added fairy lights.

balletLORENT return to Northern Stage with two new adaptations of the classic tale Rapunzel, one a family friendly retelling and one exclusively for adult audiences. Full of colour and emotion, these spellbinding retellings bring together a collection of world-class collaborators including world renowned feminist poet Carol Ann Duffy.
