The Team - MerryWeen 2022

The Team is a strand of our Young Company. They are a group of 14-21 year olds from the Byker community who met every Weds in Autumn/Winter 2022 to cook and eat food together.

They were regularly joined by guests to help explore their passions and interests and develop new skills. At the end of the year, they set up a community event MerryWeen for the Byker community. They decided who the event would be for, what the event was and the individual jobs they needed to create the event. The group were supported by Northern Stage creative staff.

Whether these skills are creative or practical – the knowledge and confidence developed is useful in the outside world.

The final event MerryWeen took place on Sat 26th November at St Michael’s Church, Byker. MerryWeen was a free freaky festive afternoon of tricks & treats for all the family.
