Paper plate pets!🦊🐭🦉🐍🐻

It’s nearly time to meet the Gruffalo and all the other wonderful creatures in the deep, dark wood! Are you ready to create a collection of your very own paper plate pets?

Have fun!

Gruffalo Crumble –

What you’ll need:

  • 1 paper plate
  • Black, green, and brown pens
  • 1 glue stick
  • Scissors
  • 1 sheet of orange paper
  • 1 sheet of white paper

Step 1. Colour in the paper plate using a brown pen.

Step 2. Draw two circles onto the orange paper to create the Gruffalo’s eyes.

Step 3. On the white paper, draw two triangles for the horns, a small circle for the wart at the end of his nose, two small rectangles for his eyebrows, and a semi-circle to create the mouth.

Step 4. Draw two triangular shaped ears and use the brown pen to colour them in. Using the black pen, colour in the mouth and eyebrows.

Step 5. Cut out all of the pieces and use the green pen to colour in the small circle to create the wart on the end of his nose!

Step 7. Stick each piece onto the plate. Finally, use the black pen to colour in a small circle in the centre of the orange circles for the Gruffalo’s pupils … and you’re finished!

We hope you enjoy your new friend!

Roasted fox –

What you’ll need:

  • Black and orange pens
  • 1 glue stick
  • Scissors
  • 1 sheet of white paper

Step 1. Using the orange pen, colour in the paper plate.

Step 2. Fold each side of the plate into a point at the bottom.

Step 3. On the white paper, draw two triangles and colour them in using the orange pen.

Step 4. Cut out the ears.

Step 5. Using glue, stick the triangles onto the back of the plate at the top to create his ears!

Step 6. Use the black pen to colour in the point where you folded each side to create Fox’s nose. Then use the same black pen to draw two eyes onto the white parts of the plate.

Now you have a lovely pet fox to keep you company!

Owl ice cream –

What you’ll need:

  • 2 paper plates
  • Black, yellow, and brown pens
  • 1 glue stick
  • 1 sheet of orange paper
  • 1 sheet of white paper
  • Scissors
  • A ruler

Step 1. Firstly, use the brown pen to colour in both paper plates.

Step 2. Cut one paper plate in half.

Step 3. Use the ruler to draw a small triangle on the orange paper. Then, on the white paper, draw two big circles and two smaller circles.

Step 4. Use the yellow pen to colour in the two big circles. Then use the black pen to colour a small circle in the centre of the other two white circles.

Step 5. Cut out all of the pieces.

Step 6. Use the glue to stick the smaller white circles onto the bigger yellow circles, in order to create Owl’s eyes.

Step 7. Use the glue to stick the eyes and the beak onto the paper plate that is whole.

Step 8. Using the plate that has been cut in half, use the glue to stick each half on either side of Owl’s face to create wings.

Be careful he doesn’t fly away!

The scariest mouse in the wood –

What you’ll need:

  • 1 paper plate
  • Black, light grey and dark grey pens
  • White paper
  • 1 glue stick
  • Scissors

Step 1. Use a light grey pen to colour in the paper plate.

Step 2. Use the scissors to cut the paper plate in half.

Step 3. Using a ruler, draw six small and thin rectangles to create Mouse’s whiskers. Then draw two curved ‘c’ shapes to create the tails. After this, draw four oval shaped ears at the bottom of the paper.

Step 4. Using the dark grey pen, colour in the tails and the four oval ears. Then use the black pen to colour in the rectangles.

Step 5. Use the scissors to cut out all of the pieces.

Step 6. Using the glue, stick a tail on one end of each plate half. Then, overlap two ears and stick to the top of each plate.

Step 7. With the black pen, draw a black circle at the bottom edge of the plate for Mouse’s nose. Using the same pen draw an eye close to the nose you have just drawn.

Step 8. Finally, use the glue to stick three whiskers at the nose on each plate.

Now you have two perfect mice to play with!

  • 1 paper plate
  • Black, light green, dark green and red pens
  • White paper
  • 1 glue stick

Step 4. Using the black pen, draw two eyes onto the middle of the plate where the spiral ends.

Step 5. Draw a ribbon on the white paper. Use a red pen to colour in the ribbon, which will be used as Snake’s tongue. Then use the scissors to cut it out.
