Open Auditions: Callout

Of course we’re always thinking about upcoming shows, but this open round is about meeting a range of actors without specific projects or roles in mind. It’s just a chance for us to meet more of the brilliant artists working in our region, and for you to meet us.

Since 2021, we’ve held two rounds of open auditions, meeting more than 120 actors. We brought colleagues from across the region together to chat with actors they hadn’t met, and to get a sense of what they can do.

On the back of our Open Auditions, some actors secured an agent, some were invited to audition for specific shows, some have made their debut at Northern Stage, and others are on lists as we wait for the right project for them.

As well as the directors and casting teams for our Autumn productions – Abigail’s Party and A Christmas Carol – we’ll invite colleagues from across the region to join us on the panel. These could be directors, casting directors, agents – anyone who has the capacity to employ or play a part in the employment of actors. Please note:

• Once a slot is confirmed, actors will be asked to prepare a 3-minute monologue from a play.
• Confirmation of slots will include details of the panelists on the day.
• Due to high demand, we can’t accommodate requests for a different time, and we will be unable to see people on a walk-up basis. In the application, you’ll be able to indicate what day and what time of day you’re available and we’ll try our best to accommodate this.
• Due to the large volume of actors we’ll be seeing, we unfortunately won’t be able to offer feedback.
• We can only accept applications via the form below, and before the deadline.
• If for any reason you are unable to attend your audition, please let us know ASAP by email producer@northernstage.co.uk, so that we can offer the slot to someone else.
• Please note that we will also give priority to actors who haven’t auditioned for Northern Stage in the last three years.
