Northern Stage welcomes three new trustees.
Today Northern Stage is pleased to extend a warm welcome to three new trustees as they join our board. They bring knowledge and experience from a range of sectors to support the growth and development of Northern Stage. We look forward to working with them and thank them in advance for their insight, support and guidance.

Stephanie Downey
Steph Downey is a registered social worker, and is the Strategic Director for Adult Social Care, Communities, Commissioning and Culture in Gateshead Council. With over 30 years’ experience of Local Government, she is adept at managing risk and leading change across large and complex organisations, all in the context of an increasingly challenging financial position. Her career commitment to anti oppressive practice intersects with her personal and professional interest in the arts, and the Mission and Vision of Northern Stage speak to her ethical values base.

Corinne Kilvington
Corinne is a Sunderland based theatre-maker, producer who is passionate about championing accessible and community-focused theatre across the North East. Alongside her work supporting local artists and emerging creatives, she is committed to creating opportunities for people to grow in confidence, develop their creative voice, and connect through storytelling. Her work is rooted in collaboration, inclusion, and the belief that theatre can strengthen communities and inspire lasting personal growth.

Russell Thackeray
Russell is a highly experienced Business Psychologist, CEO, Coach and OD Consultant who has worked in a variety of roles and sectors as well as holding a doctorate in Evaluation and an MBA. As a former professional viola player from the region, Russell appreciates and values the power of all the arts to create opportunity and diversity for all, and welcomes the chance to contribute to such an amazing organisation as a trustee.
Michael Slavin, Northern Stage’s Chief Executive said:
I am so pleased to welcome Corinne, Stephanie and Russell to Northern Stage’s board. Their guidance, expertise and fresh perspectives will help Northern Stage continue to thrive at a pivotal time for our organisation. It feels especially timely to celebrate their arrival during Volunteer Week and offer huge thanks from myself and the whole team at Northern Stage to all our trustees who give their time and energy to support our success.”
