New appointments to Northern Stage's Artistic Planning Team

New appointments to Northern Stage’s Artistic Planning Team

Jeremy Woodhouse has been appointed as Head of Producing and Helen Dobson will join as Producer.

Jeremy joins from Chichester Festival Theatre where he was Producer for over five years and has previously worked for ETT and Theatre 503.

Jeremy said:

I’m thrilled to be joining Natalie, Kate and the team at Northern Stage. I’m excited to be able to play my part in their vision for the organisation; one which places accessibility to theatre and the arts at its core and celebrates how vital culture is for all of our lives. Also, as a native northerner, I’m really looking forward to returning to the North East and to getting to know the people of Newcastle and the city’s artistic community.

Helen will make a welcome return home to the North East. She will be joining Northern Stage from Sheffield Theatres where she has been Programmer since 2019 and has previous experience at Theatre Royal Wakefield and The Customs House in South Shields.

Helen said:

I’m delighted to be returning to my home town and stepping into the role of Producer for Northern Stage. I cannot wait to immerse myself in the vibrant arts scene in Newcastle and work alongside the talented team at Northern Stage to produce innovative and engaging theatre experiences for audiences.

Natalie Ibu, Northern Stage’s Artistic Director said:

I am so looking forward to welcoming Jeremy and Helen to the North East and to Northern Stage. The growing Artistic Planning team will allow us to be more ambitious with the work that we make, better support artists and companies and continue to make real our commitment to relevance as we increase the diversity of experience, taste and perspectives in our programming and producing discussions. Our aim is to enrich the cultural life of the North East, celebrate difference, advance inclusion, strengthen communities, and use theatre as a force for positive change in the world. We are all united by a commitment to make pieces of culture, not just theatre, for the people of the North East and I can’t wait for them to get started!

Both Jeremy and Helen will begin their new roles in Northern Stage’s Artistic Planning team in September, working alongside Artistic Director, Natalie Ibu and Creative Associative Ryan Hay.

Northern Stage will also host a Stage One trainee producer from Autumn 2023.
