Tell us a bit about your career path before landing at Northern Stage.
I completed an apprenticeship in Business Administration around 10 years ago and since then have progressed through a range of administrative roles, varying from finance, HR, operations, personal assistant and project support. I mostly worked in the charity sector before working in higher education most recently.
What drew you to Northern Stage?
I wanted to be part of a company which has such an important cultural impact on the local community, having experienced its impact myself as a student while studying drama at school. I was excited to be part of a team which is passionate and creative, and the culture of inclusivity was important to me too.

What do you like about the North East?
I love the variety of the local environment; we have the wilderness of Northumberland and its lovely villages, the beautiful coastline and busy cities and towns. It’s a friendly place to live and there’s a strong sense of identity in the North East.
What do you enjoy in your typical day at Northern Stage?
I enjoy that my role is so varied – every day is different, meaning I’m always applying my skills to new things. This could be attending production meetings, organising events, supporting freelance project managers or evaluating participant data, to name a few. I love working with a team of such interesting and skilled colleagues and I am constantly learning from their knowledge and experience to develop my own practice.

What do you get up to outside of work?
I like to sew and am learning to make my own clothes. In the warmer months I enjoy exploring the North East on walks and visiting historical sites. I love attending live events and regularly see theatre and music productions with my friends and family.
