Culture Club - Hannah - Please Right Back
Please Right Back ⭐⭐⭐
This visually stunning production combines creepily drawn animations along with eerie music, light borrowing style techniques and an overall whimsical nightmareish old school vibe. The play gets both the audience and the characters to compare and contrast the childish, colourful ignorance of imagination between the dull black and white reality of real life.
The play begins with man who is set the task of delivering a briefcase to a destination and to get home in time for tea. Straight away you’re thrown into the strange cartoon style that part of the play centers around with the unsettling design of ‘the big man’ andthe use of animation for the train scenes. The father finishes his letter reminding his children to brush their teeth as we are introduced to his children: Davey and Kim. The children are under the impression that their father is on a secret mission and that they mustn’t mention it to anyone. Little do they know that it is a mask for the harsh reality their father is really facing.
