OPEN CALL: Fight Director
Northern Stage is seeking to appoint a FIGHT DIRECTOR to work on our forthcoming co-production with the National Theatre, Underdog: The Other Other Brontë by Sarah Gordon. Underdog will be directed by our Artistic Director Natalie Ibu, and will premier at the NT’s Dorfman Theatre in Spring 2024 before transferring to Stage 1 at Northern Stage.
The Fight Director will work with the Director in advance of rehearsals to identify and plan any fight moments in the play, will choreograph these moments in rehearsal, and will oversee this choreography through selected tech and previews. If necessary, they may appoint and prepare a Fight Captain in the company who will lead fight warm-ups and ensure the upkeep of safe fight choreography throughout the run.

Rehearsals – 12 February 2024 – 22 March 2024
Previews – w/c 25 March 2024
Performances at National Theatre – April – May 2024
Transfer to Northern Stage – June 2024
Please note that the Fight Director will not be needed for all of rehearsals and will identify dates in advance with the Director
FEE
This role is offered with a minimum session rate of £225, with the number of sessions to be determined in conversation with the successful candidate
