CALLOUT: Casting Call for Underdog: The Other Other Brontë
by Sarah Gordon (World Premiere)
directed by Natalie Ibu
A Northern Stage & National Theatre production
OPEN CASTING CALL
Northern Stage is seeking to meet male-identifying actors from or based in the North-East while we work to cast our forthcoming co-production with the National Theatre, Underdog: The Other Other Brontë by Sarah Gordon. Underdog will be directed by our Artistic Director Natalie Ibu and will premiere at the NT’s Dorfman Theatre in Spring 2024 before transferring to Stage 1 at Northern Stage.
How to register
We are specifically looking to meet male-identifying actors with a playing age of 25-40 who are based in or from the North-East of England.
We are looking to meet actors with at least one professional credit, or who have graduated from an accredited training programme in the last 12 months. Actors can register to audition at this link.
In line with our commitment to addressing under-representation in our industry, we will first allocate slots to actors with disabilities and global majority actors. Thereafter, we will allocate remaining slots on a first-come first-served basis, relative to time of application.
We will contact all applicants on Monday 2 October to confirm if they have secured a slot, and if so with their audition time.
Please note that actors must be available from 12 February – 29 June 2024.
Rehearsals will take place in London. Rehearsals will be paid in line with National Theatre’s payment structures as well as including a ‘living away allowance’.
At the audition
Auditions will take place between 12-5pm on Wednesday 4th & Thursday 5th October at Northern Stage, Barras Bridge, Newcastle, NE1 7RH.
Actors are asked to prepare a 5-minute monologue of their choosing, preferably comedic in tone. The panel will consist of Director Natalie Ibu and members of the National Theatre’s Casting department.
