Come To Us Festival for Byker 2022

The Best Summer Ever Summer Festival for Byker is back!… but this time it has a new name (Come To Us) and a new exciting home at Northern Stage in Newcastle.

This year we’re back and we want to invite you to ours. A whole load of activities for anyone aged 5 – 15 at Northern Stage’s building at Barras Bridge. It’s for the people of Byker and everyone is welcome and if you are under 8 then you need to bring a grown up too.

We’ve got amazing, family friendly performances lined up for you as well as bookable workshops in Stage Fighting and Dance, lawn games, activities, plus our very own cinema room with popcorn included. And delicious hot food served in our café bar everyday too. All for FREE.

A bus will pick up from Outside Byker Primary School at 11.30am each day and we’ll make sure you get back home too. There are limited spaces on the bus so get there early.

We’d love to see you there.

You can sign up for food and activities at St Michael’s Youth Café each morning between 10am and 1pm or just pop along for a cuppa and to get more information about what to expect.

This year we will have experienced staff on hand that are trained to take care of groups of unaccompanied young children. Our staff will be able to take them on the Northern Stage bus (departing from Byker Primary School at 11.30am), support them during the day and return with them to Byker Primary school (at approx 4.30pm). If you are interested in your child attending our activities without you present, then please let us know your preferences when completing our simple online registration form below.

Whilst all of our offer is free, you do need to register your child/children before they can take part. (This is mainly for safety reasons and so we can ensure all of their needs are supported at all times.)

To register your child – please follow the link below and fill out the simple online form. The form takes about 5 minutes to complete. You will need to do this for every child that is attending (one form per child please)

  • After completing our online form, your child/children will need to collect their festival wristband on the first day they attend. They can do this at the festival hub in Byker (Raby Cross), at the bus meeting point (Byker Primary School) or at the theatre itself if you’re making your own way here
  • We’ll send you a reminder with all of this information on and if you have any other questions at all you can get in touch with us via the contact information below

As mentioned above, in addition to a range of active and creative activities on offer we’ll also be offering workshops and performances that your child can take part in and experience! These are also free but spaces are limited so you will have to book your child a place.

You can book on for any weekly workshops and performances in person, over the phone or via email on Tuesday to Thursday each week. Contact information for booking is listed below.

If you’d like to sign up your child in person you can do so at the Festival Hub (at Raby Cross – open 10am-1pm Tuesday-Thurs)) or when you’re at the Theatre (12midday-4pm Tuesday – Thurs). Just ask any of our staff (and don’t worry – we’ll also remind you).

Please note that it won’t be possible to book any workshop or performance places before the first day of the Summer activities (Tuesday 2nd August).

If you’d like to contact our team to ask any questions, for help with registration or to book your child onto a workshop or performance, you can get in touch in the following ways:
