Young Company at Northern Stage
Aged 16 - 21 and thinking about a career as an actor or a director? Then Young Company is for you
Northern Stage's Young Company is for performers aged 16 – 21 who want to develop their talent and skills through a unique professional experience with us. You will be treated like a professional actor and be part of a company of other young theatre-makers who share your high level of commitment. This is an opportunity to work with industry professionals, to experiment, explore and grow both as a performer and a person.
How to get involved
Weekly skills development workshops at Northern Stage are starting from January 2017. In these workshops you will work alongside professional Theatre Practitioners to develop skills and a shared performance language. You will then be invited to join the Ella Grey Project which will run across July and August and take over Northern Stage to produce a groundbreaking site-specific performance.
Weekly sessions run on Wednesday and Thursday evenings 18.00-20.00 at Northern Stage.
A Song for Ella Grey
Young Company members will also get the chance to take part in a new project from Northern Stage. A Song for Ella Grey by David Almond and directed by Lorne Campbell, Artistic Director of Northern Stage. Ella Grey is a modern re-telling of the Greek legend of Orpheus and Eurydice now based in Newcastle and Northumberland.
Young Company will create site specific performances around the region which will be captured on film and featured in A Song for Ella Grey at Northern Stage. The final show will feature a single actor alongside the Young Company’s filmed performances and then the production will tour across the UK.
