Upcoming workshops and opportunities:
REGIONAL THEATRE YOUNG DIRECTOR SCHEME
Creative Life Support
Free workshop for Emerging Directors and Theatre Makers
Friday 4 November 2016
2.00 – 5.30pm
The session takes place at Stage 3 at Northern Stage
Working in theatre takes skill and talent but also confidence, boldness, resilience and the self-assurance to take risks. Directors have to be their own agent, producer, cheerleader and life coach. This workshop is a coaching-based session for directors to explore a challenge, topic or question to do with their craft or career. The aim is to build the participants’ confidence and provide steps to achieve a strategic way forward.
Chris Grady, professional life coach will guide the whole group through a series of questions and challenges, and participants will set themselves a small goal or issue on which to work. Those taking part need to think of an issue/challenge they would like to address; this can be big, small, specific or more general. For example “How can I find a balance between paid and unpaid work?”, “How do I get a better visual literacy in my work?”, “How can I run my rehearsals more effectively?”
You will consider the reality of where you are now, options of things you could or might do. And then a small set of actions to commit to in the next few days to help things move forward. After the session the group will explore some tools which could be useful as you develop your career/life balance and journey. In the session everything you think and write will be private to you.
The aim of the session is to help you to move forward with renewed purpose and added confidence.
