We had a brilliant day at the UK Theatre Awards on Sunday 9 October. We are now the very happy owners of the Renee Stepham Award for Best Presentation of Touring Theatre. Our nomination was for the range of touring we've supported over the past 12 months from Get Carter and NORTH16 touring Animal Farm across the region, to our work at the Edinburgh Fringe which has such an impact on securing national touring for those companies whose work we present. The other two nominees in this category were Leicester Curve and Northern Ballet.

Plus, we are absolutely ecstatic to have been awarded £150k from the prestigious Clothworkers’ Foundation. Our winning proposal is for a two year programme of work designed to create opportunities for young people from diverse backgrounds to access training and develop practical skills in the arts. The Clothworkers’ Foundation awards £150k each year to a producing English regional theatre. A different region is selected each year and this year applications were opened to theatres in the North West and North East.
We were up for both awards against extremely tough competition and are very proud to have been in such good company. See the full list of winners
At the award ceremony Ian McKellen received the award for Outstanding Contribution to British Theatre (much deserved!) and gave a fabulous and rousing speech about the importance of regional theatre which inspired us all.
